Best Friends

Daddies went to Dottie's house last night for dinner and they brought home a real nice present for me. It is an original watercolor painting of me and my best friend Katija by my favorite artist Nicoletta Poli. Me and Katija are pretty special doggies, don't you think? Daddie said he is going to write a blog too.

Me and Katija are now famous, I guess. We are inmortalized, (I think that's what Daddy said) in a painting. We will keep hiking in the woods and smooching whenever we get the chance. Katija and me are really "Best Friends".

I want to tell you about a distant cousin

ME when I got rescued and went to my new family
But this isn't about ME!

I want to tell you about Xena.

There was this dog who was abused and starving when she got rescued. Her name is Xena, Xena the Warrior Puppy. She was almost dead and her rescue lady helped her get better.

But then Xena found Johnny in that special way that we dogs have of finding our human soul mates. Xena found Johnny, an autistic kid who hadn't done too well until Xena came into his life. Now he talks and eats better and feeds Xena and goes places where he used to feel anxious.

This just goes to show that not only are we dogs important, but that rescuing a dog can change a life for the better.

Read and see videos of Xena and Johnny here. I can't put a picture of Xena in here cuz there is copycat right.

I Went to Ogunquit

I'm not sure what a gunquit is but when Daddies and I took Daddy Leon's mom to Maine to stay with her friend, we went to a gunquit on the way home.

It is a beach. I love beaches. The sand there is hard and smooth so it is easy to walk on. But the water is way out there, so I didn't go swimming.

Daddies said we were lucky to have such a nice day in November.

Smooching Under the Table With My Girlfriend

Katija and me stopped at a sidewalk cafe after our walk in the park. They say sidewalk cafes are romantic so I took the opportunity to make out with my best girlfriend. Kind of like Paris or dad said more like Lady and the Tramp. He said next time we can order a plate of spaghetti to share.

Finally We Got to Go to the Beach

Finally this summer we got to the beach. It was a long ride and we got stuck in traffics. Finally we got to PeeTown and we passed by the doggie park and I got excited. But daddy Leon kept driving!
Dad, You passed the doggie park!!!!

But we got to camp and set everything up and I had lunch and then we went to the beach.
They say getting there is half the fun
Well, that's the dumbest thing I ever heard
The fun is finding a bud to play with at the beach

But, to tell the truth, I miss my girlfriend Katija
I also went swimming - fetching sticks is my favorite thing to do in the water. Then I just chew on them a bit.
Me, relaxing with a stick
Hey, Bud, catch me if you can
So we been here now for almost a week and I been to the beach and the doggie park and went for a walk through the town. Now I got irr-tated paws. You know that sand is rough on the tender parts between my toes. I gots web feet cuz I'm a swimming dog. But the sand is rough. I'm taking a day off from the beach. 'sides it's cloudy today and not a good beach day.

I'll be catching some rays tomorrow though, and going for a another nice swim in the salty water.

My First BooBoo

This morning I went outside and when I came back there was little red spots on the floor and when I hopped into daddies' bed I got little red spots on the sheets.  Daddy Frank said "UhOh." Then he looked at all my paws. He said, "There it is." I had a cut on my paw. So he cleaned it out with peroxide and ant biotic oinment and bandaged it up. Now what did I do wrong to deserve a bandage wrapped around my foot? Dog gone, that was annoying.

Thank goodness that thing fell off. But daddy bandaged me up AGAIN! Then that fell off. The third one stayed on for a while, but daddy saw it was getting loose and took it off.

Jeeze, I'm no sissy dog. I don't need no bandage. It was just a little cut. But daddy didn't want little red spots all over the floor and carpet. Thank dog, it stopped bleeding, so things are OK now - no bandage!

I'm Ben Busy

Get it? Ben Busy!

Back on Memorial Day week we took our new camper down to South Carolina and stayed for a couple of nights near Washington, but we didn't go to see the big sights. Instead we went to the Arboretum because they allow dogs. It was a nice park. And we went to see Daddy Frank's friends in Washington. They have a real nice park near them too.

I don't care for our new camper because there is not much room for me to sleep and to stay out of the way. Daddies say we had to "downsize" but they couldn't downsize me. I now have to sleep under the table cuz there is no room on the bedroom for me. I can hardly fit under the table.

Back at home I spend lots of time with Katija. She came over and I shared my water. She gots the floor wet when she drinks.

We drink together sometimes. Mostly we meet at the Doggie Park and run. I run, Katjia chases me. Then we wrestle. Then we hike in the woods for an hour.

Then there was Gay Pride month. Daddy made me wear this stupid bandana all month. Except when it went into the wash. Oh well, the least I can do is grin and bear it.

Well we "Ben" going to Vermont on some weekends in our camper and I go swimming and hiking and run around with my friend Sadie. Sadie doesn't care much for me most of the time and I don't got a picture of her.

I like the lake best. I fetch sticks and swim a lot.
I Like Rocks Too

People sometimes mistake me for the Lake Ness Monster dog. Especially when they see a blurry picture of me swimming in the lake.

Then there was this Bear. For weeks I tried telling Daddies we had a Bear poking around. I got up early every morning and went outside to bark and bark and bark so the Bear would stay away. Daddies just didn't get it.

Then later one morning when Daddy Frank was washing up the breakfast dishes he looked out the window and said "Oh my God!" or something like that. Then he ran and got his camera.

I said to my self, "Now do you believe me when I bark 'Bear'?" Ho Hum. People. You gotta love em.
